When you educate young people you are powering the hopes and dreams of future generations. That is why we invest in youth training and development.

Uganda's Bukedi sub-region, home to Uganda Baati's original Tororo plant, records the highest youth unemployment in the country — 37.1% among 15–24 year olds according to UBOS's 2025 Labour Market Survey. Employers, meanwhile, report thousands of vacancies unfilled for lack of skilled workers. The Education pillar exists to close that gap.

Safal Uganda Baati Technical Training Institute

SUBTTI follows the model of the Mabati Technical Training Institute in Mariakani, Kenya, which has delivered nearly 10,000 NITA-certified graduates since 2005. In Uganda we are building the same beacon in Tororo.

Launched in Tororo District for over 260 out-of-school youth aged 16–25. Nine-month programmes with six weeks of industrial training in automotive mechanics, building and concrete practice, fashion and design, cosmetology, welding and metal fabrication, hairdressing and digital literacy — plus financial literacy, business management, health awareness and gender-based-violence sessions. Nyangole Sub-county, Tororo Aug 2026 – 2027 Partnership

Thirty of the most vulnerable young men and women, selected with Tororo District Local Government, will train at SUBTTI. Hima Cement's Tororo Grinding Station covers tuition, scholastic materials, accommodation, meals, uniforms and UVTAB assessment; the Foundation provides training materials. Courses begin late 2026.
